How Koolagain Works

Direct Cooling Against the Rider

Koolagain works by placing a cooled surface directly against the rider’s back. Good contact helps transfer heat away from the body while the rider wears a racing suit, riding jacket, back protector, or compatible airbag setup.

The mounting system helps hold Koolagain in position while the rider moves and changes posture. This is especially important on a sport bike, where the rider may spend much of a session in a tuck.

Cooling Time

Koolagain’s cooling time varies depending on how you prepare and use it.

  • Freezer: riders typically report about 45–55 minutes of cooling.
  • Ice chest: riders typically report about 35–45 minutes of cooling.
  • Refrigerator: some riders also use refrigerated Koolagains when they want a milder cooling effect.

Under most track-day conditions, Koolagain provides enough cooling for a full track session with some time to spare. Ambient temperature, preparation method, riding gear, airflow, and individual use can change the actual duration.

Built to Hold Its Shape

An internal foam core helps Koolagain maintain its shape and keeps the cooling material distributed throughout the insert. This helps reduce sagging and bunching as the product warms during use.

Reusable Throughout the Day

After a session, return Koolagain to a freezer or ice chest so it can cool down again. Riders can repeat this process throughout a track day or use it again on future rides.

Why Heat Management Matters

Protective motorcycle gear can hold heat close to the body, especially during hot weather, staging, traffic, and repeated track sessions. Chill Factor developed Koolagain to give riders another practical way to manage that heat without giving up the protective gear they rely on.
