How to Install Koolagain

Installing Koolagain With a Back Protector

Use this method when Koolagain will hang directly from a motorcycle back protector. Koolagain should remain on the body-facing side of the protector.

  1. Remove Koolagain from the freezer or ice chest.
  2. Connect the short top strap to Koolagain.
  3. Loop the top strap over the top of the back protector so Koolagain hangs on the body-facing side.
  4. Position Koolagain between the rider and the back protector.
  5. If desired, wrap the lower strap around the lower part of the back protector for additional stability.
  6. Put on the back protector and riding gear normally.
  7. Check that Koolagain sits comfortably against your back and stays clear of anything that could restrict normal movement.

The back protector does not need special mounts or permanent modifications. Koolagain hangs from the protector using its own strap system.

Installing Koolagain With an Airbag System

Airbag systems mount differently from traditional back protectors. In many compatible setups, Koolagain hangs from an existing loop near the top of the racing suit, riding jacket, or airbag-equipped setup. Always preserve the clearances required by the airbag manufacturer.

  1. Locate the existing hanging loop near the top of the suit, jacket, or airbag system.
  2. Connect the ends of Koolagain’s top strap together.
  3. Pass the strap through the existing hanging loop, then connect the strap back to Koolagain.
  4. Use the shorter strap in most setups so Koolagain sits close to the top of the suit or airbag system. You can swap straps if you need to adjust the hanging length.
  5. Center Koolagain on the rider’s back and confirm that the straps remain secure without restricting movement.
  6. Check the installation while standing, seated, and in your normal tucked riding position.

Keep Koolagain and its straps clear of moving airbag components, deployment areas, tethers, inflators, and other safety hardware. The installation must not interfere with the airbag system’s intended operation.

If you have any doubt about placement or clearance, contact Chill Factor before riding with the setup.

Final Fit Check

  • Koolagain should sit on the body-facing side of the protective system and remain centered on the rider’s back.
  • The cooling surface should make comfortable contact with the rider’s back.
  • Straps should remain secure without restricting movement.
  • Nothing should interfere with armor, zippers, closures, or airbag components.
  • Check the setup while standing, seated, and in your normal tucked riding position.

Cold use only: Koolagain is designed to be chilled or frozen before use. Do not heat it in a microwave, oven, hot water, dryer, vehicle heater, or other heat source.
